Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship matches held in Nizwa

The seventh leg of the fifth edition of Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship was held at Nizwa in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate recently. 

Four schools from Al Dakhiliyah Governorate including Al Bashir bin Munther School, Mohammed bin Al Kindi, Jaifer bin Al Julanda School and Mohammed bin Jafar participated in the tournament held in Nizwa. While Mohammed bin Jafar won the first place, the second place was won by Mohammed bin Al Kindi School. The third place was won by Jaifer bin Al Julanda School and the fourth place went to Al Bashir bin Munther School.
 
The Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship is being organised by Mitsubishi Oman, represented by General Automotive Company, in association with the Oman Handball Association (OHA). General Automotive Company, which is the official distributor for Mitsubishi vehicles in Oman, is a subsidiary of the Zubair Automotive Group, the flagship enterprise of The Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp). The support comes within the framework of Z-Corp’s strategy and social responsibility to encourage sport performances and achievements. As a private sector player, Z-Corp is keen on realising a long-term strategy aimed at providing support for the youth to invest their energies positively in the world of sports. The group has been constantly supporting and engaging with clubs and associations which a focus on young talent, while developing and strengthening local communities at the same time.

The handball championship has been earning an enthusiastic response since it was kicked off at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher at the Muscat Governorate in October 2019 in which four schools participated. In the second leg of the tournament held in Sur, four schools in the Al Sharqiyah South Governorate had participated. Four schools from the Al Dhahira North Governorate participated in the third phase which was held at Dhank. Four schools from the Al Buraimi Governorate participated in the fourth leg which was held at Buraimi. Four schools from the Al Batinah North Governorate participated in the tournament held in Sohar.  Dhofar Governorate hosted the sixth round in which four schools participated.

Jamal Al Balushi, Group Head, Human Resources, Zubair Automotive Group said, “We are delighted to witness a great response from the participating schools and audiences. This champion promotes the attitude of good sportsmanship and fostering companionship between school children. We are committed to the development and promotion of handball and are pleased that this tournament has achieved its purpose of popularising handball among young people. We will continue to promote handball, as well as find and nurture more talented handball athletes.”

Under the framework of augmenting public and private sector partnership, The Zubair Corporation LLC (Z-Corp) and its group company General Automotive Company has a sponsorship agreement with Oman Handball Association (OHA). As part of the agreement, Z-Corp supports all the activities of Oman Handball Association. The agreement comes within the framework of Z-Corp’s strategy and social responsibility to encourage sport promotion, performances and achievements.

Z-Corp has previously extended support to Oman Handball Association to organise school tournaments across the country. In 2018 March, Z-Corp supported Oman Mitsubishi Handball Joiners Championship held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Oman Mitsubishi had organised the competition in association with the Oman Handball Association. In July, to recognise the outstanding contribution of players who represented the Sultanate, Z-Corp and Mitsubishi Oman felicitated the Sultanate’s national handball players at the Mitsubishi showroom. Z-Corp also honoured the referees who participated in the Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship held across the governorates of the Sultanate in 2018 and 2019.
