C. S. Badrinath

Group Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Badrinath is a Chartered Accountant by profession and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India. Mr. Badrinath has been with the Zubair Group for the last 35 years handling different finance functions, until he took over his current position as Chief Executive Officer of The Zubair Corporation in . As CEO, Mr. Badrinath is responsible for the overall performance of The Zubair Corporation. The Chief Operating Officers of the various sectors, as well as the Corporate Office Heads report to him. Mr. Badrinath is a member of all the monitoring and executive committees, and shareholders’ forums of the Zubair Group of companies. He represents Zubair Group as a Director in many of the public limited companies in which Zubair Group has an interest.

S. Lakshminarayan

Chief Corporate Officer

Mr. Lakshminarayan started his career in the Indian operations of the German multinational BASF, and then worked in the French multinational Rhone Poulenc as its Company Secretary and a member of its Executive Committee, working along side the Board of Directors.He was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Associations, representing the interests of the private sector and industry. After 15 years of working in senior positions in India, Mr. Lakshminarayan moved to Muscat in 1993, and joined the Zubair Group as a member of the Senior Management Team. He is presently designated as Chief Corporate Officer supporting the Shareholders, Board and its-committees, and the CEO, in the interface with operations, and assists in improving the effectiveness of the Board and Governance. Mr. Lakshminarayan holds a graduate degree in both Commerce and Law, with a post-graduate degree in Management. His professional qualifications include being a long-standing member of The Institute of the Chartered Accountants of India, The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

Khalid Khan

Chief Legal Officer

Mr. Khan has worked in major UK and international law firms, including Pinsent Curtis, Richards Butler, and DentonWildeSapte; and as General Counsel for leading GCC multinationals such as Alshaya group (the largest retailer in the Middle East), GEMS Education (the world’s largest private K-12 education provider), and Gulf Investment Corporation (a sovereign wealth fund owned by the 6 GCC member states). He has also worked in the House of Commons in London as Parliamentary Assistant to a former UK Secretary of State and at the European Commission in Brussels. Mr Khan has been based in the Middle East since 1998. He has over 20 years’ legal experience, including significant JV, projects, investment, corporate/ commercial, and capital markets experience. In 2012, he was Winner of ALB’s “Innovative In-House Legal Team of the Year” award, and was a shortlisted Finalist for the “Middle East In-House Lawyer of the Year” award. He holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Law from Leeds Metropolitan University and Kings College London, and a master’s degree in Politics and Administration from the College of Europe in Bruges.

K. Palanivelu

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Palanivelu is a Chartered Accountant and Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India with over two decades of experience, having started his career with SPIC in India, a large conglomerate of petrochemicals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, engineering and shipping. During his 15 years with them, he held various positions in India and Jordan and handled large projects and financing transactions. Mr. Palanivelu joined the Zubair Group in 2004, heading the Group Treasury function before taking over as Chief Financial Officer of The Zubair Corporation. He has handled large financing transactions for the Group and has a good network within the banking circles of the Middle East.

Mohammed Al Hasani

Chief of Corporate Communication

Mohammed is a marketing and communication expert with extensive experience managing some of the best brands in Oman. His know-how covers many sectors, from Education to Telecommunications to Banking. His area of expertise include marketing and communication strategy, system thinking, sponsorship and partnership, reputation management, stakeholders management, organisational culture, public affairs, social media etc. Mohammed is known for his structured methodology in building brands and managing reputation using international best practices customized to fit the unique cultural framework. Mohammed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Master’s Degree in Agri-Economics and Rural Development and an Executive Master Degree in Communication Management (EMScom).

Sivakumar Thangaratnavelu

Chief Customer Officer

Mr Sivakumar is a Marketing and Customer Experience Management professional with an accomplished track record of success having worked for over two decades in leading organizations such as HSBC, Etisalat, Mashreqbank and Gallup across North America, Middle East and Far Eastern markets. He is also an entrepreneur having setup two successful businesses in the Middle East. Mr Sivakumar graduated in engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University and went on to specialize in Marketing through a MBA post graduate degree. He is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is a recognized thought leader in the area of financial services marketing and customer experience and a regular speaker at conferences worldwide.

Ian Young

Chief Audit Officer

Ian is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Internal Auditors UK and brings to the Zubair Corporation 30 years of experience gained across several sectors and many countries. Ian studied at CASS Business School in London and after several years working for the UK Civil Service he moved into Financial Services leading a team auditing private banking, property investment and management, insurance and investment funds. He then moved to the US as deputy head of audit in the US subsidiary of British American Tobacco (BAT) and there he led the development of the audit function covering operations in the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea. This was followed by nearly 3 years in Ghana and S Africa establishing audit functions to serve more than 30 countries in Africa including production facilities in seven countries. The new Millennium saw Ian work as a consultant back in Financial Services in the UK before joining Del Monte where he was Head of Audit covering all operations in Europe and Africa. The Tsunami of December 2004 motivated Ian to move into the NGO sector where he was first Head of Audit with Save the Children UK and later Head of Assurance with Save the Children International. In seven years Ian led his teams in countries as diverse as Afghanistan and Iraq to China and Serbia and during this time worked in around 40 countries helping to establish effective controls that supported life changing work for millions of children around the world. In 2012 Ian moved to the GCC as Head of Audit and Risk in Masafi Water in Dubai and later moved to a related company Al Ghurair Investment as Group VP Internal Audit, Risk and Lean. Ian is now Chief Audit Officer of The Zubair Corporation.

Said Al Sahib

General Manager - Corporate Development

Said Al Sahib has rich experience of over 25 years handling independently the business development role dealing with leading national and international organizations in public and private sectors. He is focused on achieving bottom-line results in intensely competitive environments. His strengths are in the areas of multi-culture adaptability change management, organizer skills and motivational leadership, with established record of success in sector strategy and operational solutions delivery on a global scale with differentiating value proposition and impact.He has widely travelled including actively participating in delegations as a representative of the private sector. He started his career in the Government closely involved in economic planning affairs. Said had his initial education in financial services, and holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Business Finance, and Executive Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership from Charter Management Institute (CMI), UK.

Robert Ambrose

Chief Operating Officer - Energy & Logistics

Robert has a Petroleum Engineering Masters from Imperial College, London, and a Mechanical Engineering Honors Degree from Brunel University in the UK. He has worked for approximately twenty years in the upstream oil & gas industry prior to joining the Zubair Group in 2001. Robert has lived and worked in numerous countries, including the UK, Nigeria, UAE, Qatar, India and Oman, where he held various roles at a major international oil field solution provider, ranging from technical to sales and marketing and eventually overall management. Since joining the Zubair Group, Robert has been the General Manager of Oman Oil Industry Supplies & Services (OOISS) and Zubair Oil & Gas (Zogas), two important companies in the Zubair portfolio that provide products and services to the energy industry and other sectors in Oman. Robert is now the COO of the Zubair Energy & Logistics Division.

T. N. Ranjan

Chief Operating Officer - Engineering, Construction & Contracting

Mr. T. N. Ranjan is an Electrical/Electronics Engineer from IIT, Delhi. He started his career with a Swiss Multinational, specializing in Substation Control and Automation Systems - then moving onto EHV and HVDC Transmission Systems, taking on the design, development and application responsibilities for protection and control at a French and then a Swedish conglomerate. Mr. Ranjan joined Zubair Electric Group in 1988 and after a stint of 10 years in Oman, he moved to Dubai - spearheading the lighting, controls and electrical products/systems unit. Presently he is the designated Chief Operating Officer of the Engineering, Construction & Contracting Sector at The Zubair Corporation, which comprises of fully owned and JV companies specialising in activity areas that encompass electrical, lighting, BMS, HVAC, furnishing and fit out, interior decoration, life and health sciences, education, audio visual, contracting, hospitality, etc. Outside of work, he enjoys sports and reading.

N. Janardhan

Chief Operating Officer - Manufacturing

N. Janardhan started his career as an Engineer in a heavy engineering & automobile company Escorts Limited. His introduction to the world of FMCG came when he worked for over a decade in Hindustan Unilever Limited in various capacities as Industrial Engineer, Production & Maintenance Manager, Product Development Manager and Manufacturing Manager. His journey in the FMCG world continued with Coca-Cola India, in both Technical and Sales and Marketing functions. Other designations include Plant Manager, Area General Manager and Head - Manufacturing for over a period of 5 years. N. Janardhan is the Chief Operating Officer for the Manufacturing Sector of our Group, comprising of Bottled Water, FMCG Trading, Confectionery, Plastics, Meat Products, Mining and Abrasives businesses. He joined The Corporation as the General Manager of Oasis Water Company in 2007 and is a Gold Medalist in Industrial Engineering from the College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University,and a MBA graduate from the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester.

Mark Tomlinson

Group General Manager - Automotive

Mark Tomlinson leads The Zubair Corporation Automotive sector as Group General Manager for Zubair Automotive Group, a role where Mark assumes responsibility as Managing Director for two of the Automotive Group companies. As an automotive professional with over 25 years’ experience in both the European and Middle East markets, Mark has represented some of the world’s most recognised automotive brands across a very broad market spectrum. This includes prestige and volume vehicle brands, commercial vehicles and equipment, lifestyle and leisure products, along with a wide and varied range of automotive aftermarket and accessory items. Having joined the group in 2008 as General Manager, Mark utilises the extensive leadership and management experience gained through working with both large international PLC and privately owned companies, to lead, manage and direct the group’s wide and varied portfolio of business entities and franchises.
